Kofi Kingston began the week on the December 14th edition of Friday Night SmackDown with a win over Alberto Del Rio. This match seemed to be an opportunity to show off Kofi before his Intercontinental Championship match with Wade Barrett at WWE TLC 2012.Kofi would go on to successfully retain his Intercontinental Championship against Wade Barrett at WWE TLC 2012. This was a surprise to me as I thought Wade Barrett needed to win this match. Wade Barrett will most likely be a World Champion in a few years, but Kofi will always be Kofi. Therefore, a win against Barrett and keeping the title on Kingston shows WWE supports Kofi and this definitely helped him win this week’s award.
This past Monday’s Raw saw Kofi Kingston pick up a win and a Slammy Award. Kofi won the “Tell Me I Did Not Just See That” award, also known as the Booker T award. Kingston received the award for his acrobatic and impressive handstand walk that kept him alive temporarily in the Royal Rumble match.
The other nominees for this award were Brad Maddox delivering a low blow to Ryback at Hell in a Cell, Sheamus defeating Daniel Bryan in 18 seconds at WrestleMania and CM Punk attacks the Rock at Raw 1000.
